Everywhere you turn, people are talking about wanting to feel better. And we are guessing you do, too. Maybe you want to feel safer and less anxious, and more in control. Maybe you want to feel more focused or less distracted and happier. Or maybe you want to feel less stressed and more fulfilled.

During times of stress and adversity we do not always pay attention to how we are feeling in the now. We are too busy reacting to what is happening around us to take an inventory of what emotions are present in the current moment. We seem to rush to the future. We want to skip ahead and feel better fast. But how can we feel better later if we don’t even know how we feel now? Emotional check-ins are designed to help you slow down. They are designed to help you get an accurate reading of how you feel.

Emotional reactions to change are a normal reaction to the real and perceived disruption that accompanies change. Emotions are psychological and biological responses that affect our minds, our bodies, and our motivation. Emotions color our perception of events and influence how we make sense of the world around us. What is the effect of change? It is how we prepare, equip, and support individuals to successfully adopt change to drive organizational success and outcomes.

The definition of resilience is a person’s capacity to respond to pressure and the demands of daily life. Dictionary definitions include concepts like flexibility, suppleness, durability, strength, speed of recovery and buoyancy. In short, resiliency affects our ability to ‘bounce back’. We can think about it in this model: Withstand: facing the challenge/ Recover: bouncing back/ Grow: thriving in the face of adversity. We invite you to reflect on how Covid changed your life (professionally and personally), how you’ve worked through those challenges to get to where you are now, and how you can take what you’ve learned to thrive in the future as we move forward.
